La refondation de l’Europe est l’un des grands projets d’Emmanuel Macron. Le président français a profité de son déplacement à Athènes, le berceau de la démocratie, pour donner ce jeudi 7 septembre sa vision d’une Europe ambitieuse.
Emmanuel Macron s’est choisi un décor grandiose. Un pupitre placé en haut de la colline de la Pnyx, avec l’Acropole en toile de fond, au soleil couchant. C’est ce qu’a souhaité le président français pour donner plus de poids à ses paroles, ce jeudi 7 septembre. Pour lancer, à Athènes, son projet de « refondation démocratique », le chef d’Etat a choisi un lieu lourd de sens. La référence, double, à la naissance de la démocratie et à la crise grecque n’est pas le fruit du hasard.
Le président français a commencé son discours par quelques mots en grec, pour souligner « le grand privilège » d’être là. « Qu’avons-nous fait de notre démocratie, qu’avons-nous fait de notre souveraineté ? Aujourd’hui la souveraineté, la démocratie, la confiance sont en danger », s’est exclamé Emmanuel Macron. A ses yeux, la démocratie a manqué à l’Europe ces dix dernières années et il veut la faire renaitre.
