Le Croissant-Rouge iranien a déclaré jeudi avoir préparé de l’aide humanitaire pour les musulmans rohingyas ayant fui une campagne de répression des forces de sécurité birmanes, a rapporté un média d’État. “Un programme d’aide d’urgence, de nourriture et d’hygiène a été préparé par le Croissant-Rouge pour être envoyé” en Birmanie, a indiqué le chef de l’organisation Morteza Salimi, dans des propos relayés par l’agence IRNA.
L’aide sera “immédiatement envoyée au peuple opprimé de ce pays si nous obtenons l’autorisation” de la Birmanie, a-t-il ajouté, précisant que cela avait été ordonné par le président iranien Hassan Rohani. Au cœur du conflit, qui a fait plus de 430 morts depuis le 25 août: le sort du million de Rohingyas de Birmanie, dont certains ont pris les armes pour dénoncer le sort fait à cette minorité apatride, sans droits.
Selon l’Onu, plus de 160.000 personnes issues de cette minorité ont depuis fui au Bangladesh voisin. L’ambassadeur d’Iran à l’Onu, Gholam Ali Khoshrou, a fait état de contacts avec plusieurs pays musulmans pour discuter du problème. “J’ai eu de nombreux contacts avec des ambassadeurs de pays musulmans ces derniers jours et il a été décidé de former un groupe”, a-t-il précisé, selon l’agence IRNA. Il a dit espérer que le groupe se rencontre la semaine prochaine à New York à l’occasion de l’Assemblée générale de l’Onu.
