Le premier musée au monde consacré au vagin bientôt dans la capitale britannique. L’idée est encore théorique mais une youtubeuse anglaise entend bien concrétiser son projet.
Florence Schechter est une youtubeuse anglaise qui vient de créer une chaîne spécialement dédiée au projet qu’elle défend fièrement : Vagina museum. Comme le nom le suggère explicitement, un musée du vagin, le premier au monde, pourrait voir le jour à Londres en Grande-Bretagne. C’est en tout cas le souhait de cette jeune scientifique qui milite pour l’ouverture de ce premier établissement entièrement consacré à l’intimité féminine. Un musée du pénis, le musée phallologique (The Icelandic Phallological Museum) existe déjà à Reykjavik, dans la capitale islandaise, alors pourquoi n’y aurait-il pas le pendant féminin ? C’est l’argumentaire soutenu par la Youtubeuse qui souhaite convaincre les Internautes avec sa chaîne YouTube mais aussi sur les réseaux sociaux : Vagina museum possède déjà un compte Instagram avant même d’exister.
“Il n’existe aucun musée du vagin nulle part. Il y a des oeuvres d’art, des petites galeries et un musée virtuel. Mais il n’y a pas de lieu physique dédié à l’anatomie féminine […] C’est pour cela que j’ai décidé de créer mon propre musée du vagin”, explique Florence Schechter dans une vidéo parue sur YouTube.
UN MUSÉE POUR LEVER LES TABOUS AUTOUR DU VAGIN
Une fois sur pied, l’établissement présenterait de manière scientifique le fonctionnement de l’appareil reproducteur féminin, aborderait la thématique de la sexualité féminine, la culture et l’histoire autour du vagin. Tous les domaines, jusqu’aux problématiques sociétales, aux inégalités d’accès aux protections périodiques ou encore aux violences sexuelles pourraient être mises en perspective dans ce musée. Plus qu’un monument esthétique, le musée du vagin serait donc aussi un instrument symbolique et militant qui pourra peut-être contribuer à lever des tabous persistants sur le vagin, la sexualité féminine ou encore les menstruations.
La YouTubeuse lance une campagne participative pour sensibiliser à son projet et faire en sorte que son musée du vagin s’installe un jour à Londres.
