Cette année, la Journée internationale de l’alphabétisation sera célébrée le 8 spetembre prochain sous le thème “L’alphabétisation dans un monde numérique”. A travers un communiqué parvenu à Actunet, l’Organisation des Nations Unies précise à ce propos qu’un événement mondial sera organisé au Siège de l’Unesco à Paris, avec pour objectif global d’examiner les types de compétences en lecture et en écriture dont les individus ont besoin pour naviguer dans des sociétés où la communication est de plus en plus numérique et explorer des politiques et des programmes d’alphabétisation efficaces qui puissent tirer parti des opportunités offertes par le monde numérique. La cérémonie de remise des Prix internationaux d’alphabétisation de l’Unesco 2017 se tiendra également afin de reconnaître et de récompenser des pratiques d’alphabétisation exemplaires du monde entier en lien avec le thème de cette année et en tant que cible essentielle pour la réalisation de l’Objectif de développement durable 4. La même source indique que pour réduire les inégalités, la Journée internationale de l’alphabétisation mettra cette année l’accent sur les défis et les opportunités liés à la promotion de l’alphabétisation dans le monde numérique, un monde où, malgré les progrès réalisés, au moins 750 millions d’adultes et 264 millions d’enfants non scolarisés n’ont toujours pas les compétences de base en lecture et en écriture.
