Les éléments de la Brigade d’intervention polyvalente (Bip) ont été acclamés par la population hier après-midi, sur la Corniche Ouest, plus précisément à hauteur du parcours sportif qui jouxte l’Université Cheikh Anta Diop.
Les soldats ont travaillé en étroite collaboration avec les éléments du Commissariat de Point E, pour empêcher tout risque d’explosion du puissant obus découvert sur les lieux.

Des éléments de la Bip, spécialisés dans les manoeuvres d’amorçage et de désamorçage d’engins explosifs, sont ensuite venus en renfort sur le terrain. Ils arboraient, visiblement, des moyens technologiques de pointe.
L’ambiance qu’ils ont installé a fait croire à toute l’assistance que Dakar faisait face à une tentative d’attentat terroriste. Classée “zone de manoeuvre délicate”, la circulation des personnes et des véhicules est immédiatement stoppée sur la corniche Ouest.
L’engin en question serait rejeté par la mer. Il s’agit d’un obus qui date de la seconde guerre mondiale. Long d’un mètre, il fait 70 centimètres de diamètre, pour un poids de 400 kilogrammes. Mais malgré sa technologie désuète, une mauvaise manipulation pouvait créer une explosion qui ferait d’énormes dégâts dans un important rayon.
Les éléments de Bip devaient faire exploser la tête de l’obus. Il ne leur a pas fallu plus de trente minute pour réussir cette opération. Sans tambours ni trompette, les Jambaars sont retournés placés en lieu sûr le corps de l’engin. Laissant ainsi derrière eux, une Corniche Ouest avec son tempo habituel.
