Des milliers de fidèles vont converger vers le Sanctuaire Marial de Popenguine, les 3, 4 et 5 juin prochains à l’occasion de la 129e édition du Pèlerinage Marial. Ainsi, les pèlerins des 7 diocèses du Sénégal, de la Gambie, de la Mauritanie et du Mali vont prier, méditer et exalter, Marie, Notre Dame de la Délivrande. La particularité de cette présente édition est le souvenir du passage du Saint Pape Jean Paul II au Sanctuaire Marial, le vendredi 21 février 1992, à l’occasion de son voyage apostolique au Sénégal. Popenguine porte encore, selon le comité d’organisation, l’écho des paroles mémorables de saint Jean Paul II. La 129e édition a pour thème : «Marie, mère et éducatrice : modèle pour nos familles et nos communautés». Cette année, le Diocèse de Kolda sera à l’honneur. A ce propos, Mgr Jean Pierre Bassène évêque de Kolda présidera la messe solennelle du 5 juin à 10h accompagné de la chorale diocésaine du Fouladou. Le Comité d’organisation a pris toutes les dispositions pratiques pour permettre aux fidèles de vivre cette démarche de foi dans les meilleures conditions.
