  6. Hey guys, I know we don’t chat with the author until next month, but what do you guys think about John Baxter Taylor and the issue with the school incident? Do you think he acted like a coward or maybe he was just trying to guard himself from being hurt as racism was very much alive? The school incident is really the turning point in the book and John makes a lot of decisions after that point in his life and then he meets a very prominent person that would have a profound effect on his life.   17. I don’t know, if it’s acting more like a brick than like a phone, then ‘bricked’ seems like a reasonable word to use. I wasn’t aware that the Academy of English Usage had already decided that the word was limited to a particular technical state.I disagree. The point about something being ‘bricked’ is that it is totally useless for it’s original purpose, and so broken that the only possible use for it is as a brick. .
