Castel, la société française de production et de distribution de boissons alcoolisées a fait cette année un chiffre d’affaire de plus de 37 milliards Fcfa. Le meilleur résultat de l’entreprise en Afrique, a indiqué le journal Dakartimes, lu par Actunet.
En 2014, le Sénégal a été classé à la troisième place dans le classement de l’Oms des pays consommateurs d’alcool. Et paradoxalement, c’est un pays qui compte 95 pour cent de musulmans, dit-on.
En 2005, une étude a été faite par “Market acces database, wine institute” sur la consommation et l’importation d’alcool au Sénégal. Selon cette étude, la consommation au Sénégal se chiffre à 70 mille hectolitres de vin en moins d’un an. Toujours selon même étude, la consommation de vin par habitant est de 0,6 litre. Un chiffre supérieur à la moyenne mondiale.
Ce ne sont pas moins de 24 millions de bouteilles qui sont ainsi consommées par une population sénégalaise de 12 millions d’habitants. Une consommation qui s’intensifie dans les régions comme Dakar, Mbour, Thiès et Ziguinchor.
