C’est à cause de ses soucis de santé que Serigne Cheikh Sidy Mokhtar est resté inaperçu du grand public depuis un long moment. Il a opéré un léger aménagement de son agenda, a indiqué l’Obs, consulté par Actunet. Jusqu’à cette période, le Khalife était assidu à la prière du vendredi à la Grande mosquée de Touba. Mais ces dernières semaines, elle se faisait sans sa présence. Chose que les Mourides n’ont pas vu durant toute sa présence au Khalifat.
Le marabout ne sortait plus que les jours de dimanche, juste avant la prière du crépuscule. Et cela durait une trentaine de minutes durant lesquelles il ne communiquait avec personne. Il se limitait juste à faire des prières. C’est comme cela qu’il a vécu ces six derniers mois qui précèdent son rappel à Dieu.
il y a moins de dix jours de cela, il a commis son chambellan, Cheikh Ndiaye, auprès du chef de l’Etat. C’était pour la prise en charge de personnes malades, a témoigné son porte-parole Serigne Bassirou Abdou Khadre Mbacké.
La dernière apparition publique de Serigne Cheikh Sidy Mokhtar Mbacké date de la dernière fête de Korité. Il n’a donc pas célébré la Tabaski à Touba. Et il ne s’est également pas rendu à Dakar, dans sa résidence de Colobane où il passe un séjour annuellement, deux mois après la Tabaski. Même lors du dernier Magal de Touba, le saint homme s’est fait représenter, par son vice-Khalife, durant la cérémonie officielle.
