“J’attends un jour la retraite, mais quand on n’avance plus, on recule”, expose le Suisse. Après une opération d’un genou et des problèmes de dos, il confie que “la carrosserie a été réparée et le moteur lui continue de très bien tourner”.
Assez en tout cas pour se rendre l’été prochain au Mondial en Russie. “Oui j’irai, j’ai reçu une invitation de la part du président Poutine, comme Michel Platini du reste”.
“Vous savez que Poutine et Blatter sont depuis longtemps, on peut le dire, amis, a déclaré vendredi le porte-parole du Kremlin Dmitri Peskov. La Coupe du monde est une grande fête du football et (…) les vieux amis seront aussi les bienvenus. (M. Poutine) connaît bien (Michel) Platini aussi et nous serons heureux de les voir à Moscou”.
Mais Platini “n’a pas reçu d’invitation de M. Poutine pour aller au Mondial en Russie et ne sait d’ailleurs pas ce qu’il fera l’été prochain”, a indiqué à l’AFP l’entourage de l’ancien président de l’UEFA.
“Je ne sais pas combien de temps je vais y aller, si je serai là pour le match d’ouverture ou pour la finale, ajoute Blatter pour sa part. Comme je ne peux pas travailler dans le football et que je n’ai pas de mission à accomplir, je ne ferai peut être qu’un passage”.
Interrogée, la Fifa, n’y trouvera rien à redire “puisque M. Blatter n’a plus de fonction officielle”. Avant cela, le Valaisan met la dernière main à un livre sur ses années à la Fifa qu’il promet “salé”: “Je raconte des choses qui se sont produites dans le passé”.

Sepp Blatter a été suspendu 6 ans “de toute activité liée au football” par la justice interne de la Fifa pour un paiement controversé de 2 millions de francs suisses (1,8 million d’euros), à son ex-ami et allié Michel Platini.
Forcé de quitter son siège en pleine vague de scandales en 2015 après 17 ans de règne, l’octogénaire se dit “toujours prêt à parler de la situation du football mondial”.
