Après une interruption de deux mois, la Coupe de la Confédération reprend ses droits avec les quarts de finale dont la manche aller débute ce vendredi avec le match entre les Sud-Africains de Supersport et les Zambiens de Zesco.
Les derbys nord-africains MC Alger (Algérie) – Club Africain (Tunisie) et FUS Rabat (Maroc) – CS Sfaxien (Tunisie) auront, quant à eux, lieu samedi. Il y aura au moins deux représentants de cette zone géographique en demi-finales.
Le match entre le club soudanais de Hilal Obeid et son homologue congolais du TP Mazembe est également prévu samedi.
Qualifié sur le terrain puis disqualifié et remplacé par la formation angolaise de Recreativo do Libolo, à la suite de la suspension du Soudan par la FIFA, Hilal Obeid a été rétabli dans ses droits par la CAF.
Pour sa première participation aux joutes continentales, le club soudanais va disputer les quarts de finale contre le tenant du trophée, le TP Mazembe.
