Le coup d’envoi du championnat de Ligue 1 de football du Sénégal sera donné ce week-end avec quatorze équipes sur la ligne de départ.
Couronnée championne dès sa première saison en Ligue, Génération Foot est attendue pour confirmer. Malgré le transfert en Europe de nombre de ses cadres, l’académie partenaire du FC Metz (Ligue 1 française) reste compétitive. Pour preuve : elle vient de remporter deux des trois tournois de pré-saison : la Super Coupe et le Trophée des champions.
Depuis son lancement en 2009, aucun club n’a réussi à remporter deux fois la Ligue 1 de football professionnel.
Comme lors des précédentes saisons, l’exercice 2017-2018 s’annonce très ouverte tant les 14 équipes se tiennent de près.
A suivre également de près les premiers pas de Dakar Sacré-Cœur en Ligue 1. Lié à l’Olympique lyonnais par un partenariat, cette formation est, avec les deux autres académies (Diambars et Génération Foot), l’un des clubs les mieux organisés du pays.
Avec la participation du Sénégal à la Coupe du monde 2018 en Russie, la compétition se jouera cette saison à un rythme accéléré afin de réussir à boucler la saison en juin.
L’équipe classée première est couronnée championne alors que les deux dernières au classement sont reléguées en Ligue 2.
