La légende du football algérien Rabah Madjer vient d’être nommé sélectionneur de l’Algérie après le limogeage de l’Espagnol Lucas Alcaraz. L’ancien international algérien avait déjà pris la tête des Fennecs à deux reprises par le passé. A l’époque, l’expérience s’était soldée par des résultats mitigés.
La rumeur enflait, elle s’est finalement vérifiée. L’ancien Ballon d’or africain Rabah Madjer va remplacer l’Espagnol Lucas Alcaraz au poste de Sélectionneur de l’Algérie a annoncé mercredi 18 octobre 2017 la Fédération algérienne de football (FAF).
Déjà nommé Sélectionneur des Fennecs a deux reprises de 1994 à 1995 et de 2001 à 2002, Madjer connaît bien le poste mais son bilan mitigé à la tête de l’Equipe nationale ne faisait pas vraiment de lui le candidat naturel pour prendre les rênes d’une sélection en pleine crise et qui a échoué à se qualifier pour la Coupe du monde 2018 en Russie.
Des résultats mitigés
Lors d’une conférence de presse à la FAF ce jeudi 19 octobre, Rabah Madjer a reconnu que ses derniers passages à la tête de l’équipe avaient été peu concluants. «Oui, j’ai connu l’échec, a admis le nouveau patron des Fennecs. Mais on m’a mis des bâtons dans les roues, on voulait m’imposer des joueurs», s’est-il justifié. En 20 matchs, Madjer comptabilise un bilan de 7 défaites, 7 nuls et 6 victoires.
