La Fédération sud-africaine de football (Safa) est revenue sur sa volonté de contester la décision de la FIFA de faire rejouer le match de son équipe nationale contre celle du Sénégal après l’obtention d’informations complémentaires de l’instance dirigeante du football mondial. « Suite aux informations complémentaires que la SAFA a reçues de l’organe dirigeant du football mondial, FIFA, la Fédération s’est résolue pour des raisons morales et éthiques qu’elle ne peut pas être bénéficiaire d’activités de corruption », informe un communiqué publié sur son site.
«Par conséquent, nous avons décidé de respecter la directive de la FIFA de faire rejouer le match contre le Sénégal à une date à déterminer », ajoute le communiqué. Dans un premier temps, la SAFA, après avoir appris la décision de la FIFA, a indiqué se donner le droit d’obtenir des informations avant de la remettre en question. « La SAFA est pour une tolérance zéro sur les activités liées à la corruption au sein du football et c’est dans cette optique que nous avons décidé de nous conformer à la directive de la FIFA », poursuit la même source.
Toutefois, poursuit le communiqué, « la personne (arbitre) au centre de cette controverse, a interjeté appel devant les tribunaux civils et si ces derniers annulent la décision, tout devient nul et non avenu et dans ce cas précis ». «La Safa se réservera (alors) le droit de contester la décision de la FIFA de faire rejouer le match », lit-on dans le document. Mercredi, après la confirmation de la suspension à vie de l’arbitre ghaneen Joseph Lamtey, la FIFA avait décidé de faire rejouer le match Afrique du Sud-Sénégal de novembre dernier remporté 2-1 par les Bafana-Bafana.
Cette décision relance le Sénégal qui aura trois matchs à disputer dans la course à la qualification pour la Coupe du monde Russie 2018. Après la décision de la FIFA, la situation dans la poule D se présente comme suit : 1er Burkina Faso 6 points (+2), 2-eme Cap Vert 6 points (-2), 3-eme Senegal 5 points (+2), 4-eme Afrique Sud 1 point (-2), SD/PON
