Il estime, dans sa lettre adressée à Macky et dont nous avons copie, que ce combat a été soutenu par leurs camarades anciens Combattants Français qui ont toujours exprimé une solidarité agissante, comme jadis face à l’ennemi. «C’est aussi le symbole du succès de la politique que vous menez, avec efficacité, discrètement, mais obstinément, auprès des autorités françaises. En effet, après la réception historique d’une copie des archives numérisée de Thiaroye dont vous avez bien voulu confier l’expertise au comité que je préside, le Président de la République française vous a solennellement promis la remise prochaine de deux mille (2000) photos numérisées de Tirailleurs sénégalais de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Cela va permettre de mieux connaitre l’histoire des Tirailleurs sénégalais, de valoriser et de vulgariser davantage cette mémoire enfouie dans les méandres de l’oubli», lit-on sur la lettre du professeur.
