Ainsi, « sur instructions de SEM le Président Macky Sall », l’ambassadeur des États-Unis à Dakar a été convoqué ce vendredi 12 janvier 2018 par le ministre des Affaires étrangères et des Sénégalais de l’Extérieur, Me Sidiki Kaba, qui lui a « formellement remis » une note de protestation du Sénégal.
