La Ligue sénégalaise contre le tabac (LISTAB) a organisé mercredi “un atelier de sensibilisation” des élèves de l’Ecole nationale de gendarmerie de Fatick (centre) sur “les dangers” du tabac et la nouvelle loi anti-tabac, a constaté l’APS.
“Seuls les gendarmes ou les forces de sécurité et de défense peuvent assurer sur le terrain la protection des non-fumeurs. C’est pourquoi nous portons le plaidoyer très tôt auprès des élèves sous-officiers de la gendarmerie”, a expliqué à la presse le docteur Abdoul Aziz Kassé, président de la Listab, en marge de l’atelier.
’’Nous continuerons le plaidoyer et la sensibilisation, avec d’autres élèves-officiers de la gendarmerie et les policiers. Nous continuerons à mener la même démarche de sensibilisation sur la loi anti-tabac’’, a-t-il ajouté.
Les élèves-gendarmes sont ciblés parce qu’ils font partie des représentants de la loi qui ’’peuvent veiller sur les lieux où il est interdit de fumer, ce n’est pas à la société civile de jouer ce rôle’’, a expliqué Abdoul Aziz Kassé.
L’application de cette loi va se faire ’’progressivement’’, selon le président de la LISTAB.
“Aujourd’hui, les grands panneaux publicitaires du tabac ont disparu de nos artères”, a-t-il signalé pour s’en réjouir, assurant que “cette loi finira par s’appliquer”.
L’atelier a été organisé avec la collaboration du commandement de l’Ecole nationale des élèves sous-officiers de la gendarmerie de Fatick, dans les locaux de cet établissement de formation.
Les décrets d’application de la loi anti-tabac ont été adoptés en 2014 par l’Assemblée nationale et signés en juillet 2016 par le président de la République.
